I would strongly suggest that you allow your local, registered and qualified dentist to provide for your dental needs. However if you want to try and save some money and get a holiday as well, India is the world’s fastest growing destination for dental work.

Dental tourism is on the rise and has been since 2006 when new contracts introduced a limit on the number of treatments that could be claimed on the NHS. The big advantage of travelling abroad is the huge savings – Dental implants for example can cost anything from £900 up to £3,000 for a single tooth implant in the UK, the same treatment in Budapest can be as much as 75% lower. However, for anyone considering taking a trip abroad for cosmetic dentistry it is important to remember there are a lot of cowboys out there so research the most professional and reputable dental surgeries and make an informed decision.

I went to Hungary for my implants and tooth whitening and was pleasantly surprised at the outstanding level of service. I was a little wary at first as with such a low price tag I assumed there had to be some form of repercussion/small print etc but the care I recieved was great. I'd definitely go back.

Hungary is actually one of the biggest destinations for dental travel from within the European Union with more than 15,000 foreign dental patients every year.

Already from the 90's, thousands of Austrians would cross the border for routine visits to a Hungarian dentist as well as for larger dental treatments. In the past 10 years, Budapest has seen an increasing number of dental travellers from the UK, Ireland as well as from Denmark and Norway (the countries with the highest cost of dental treatment in the EU). The emergence of low cost air carriers across Europe has given a significant boost to the number of patients travelling to Budapest over the past 4-5 years.

I run a British dental clinic abroad in Piestany spa, Slovakia (http://www.dentalholiday.co.uk) and can certainly say that Brits going abroad for dental treatment such as crowns and dental implants is a fast growing trend here in Europe. Not only to save money and time but also to receive access to some of the most experienced dentists within the European Union.
