Cosmetic Dentistry

Question from Margaret McDonald, Inverness:

Is Cosmetic Dentristy Suitable for Everyone?

I am a 53 year old woman and I am very self conscious about my teeth. I am missing six teeth altogether and the others are weak with a lot of fillings. Am I too old to have this corrected?

Answer from Mark Greene, Leeds:

It is becoming more and more popular for older people to want to correct their smiles but a lot of people think they may be too old and have missed their chance. This is in fact a myth - you are never too old to have beautiful straight white teeth. As long as you have healthy gums, you can avail of many cosmetic dentistry procedures such as implants, bridges, crowns or veneers. Having a beautiful smile can make you look years younger so there is no reason to wait especially due to the fact that as we age our teeth can become worn down and it is a well known fact that this can make you look older. For some people, their smiles can age faster than the rest of their faces so correcting this can give you back the youthful appearance you should have!
